Chelsea - Man United (3-3)
An interesting day for sure at Stamford Bridge. With an uneventuful first half, both teams came back on for the second half looking for blood. Chelsea wasted no time in converting their second goal with a quality cross from Torres with a superb finish off the volley from the one and only Juan Mata. Things looked even worse for the Red Devils when Rio Ferdinand deflected David Luiz's header into his own net just 4 minutes later.
However, United wouldn't go away quietly. With two very questionable calls form referee Howard Webb, United were able to convert two PKs from Wayne Rooney. For the next 15 minutes the game was electric, both teams attacking back and forth and it certainly was a fantastic match for a neutral supporter. Things came around in the 85th minute when Rooney blasted a shot at Cech who deflected it to the side, Giggs was then there to scoop up the ball on the left side of the eighteen and sent in a picture perfect cross to Hernandez to head it home.
Chelsea blowing a three goal lead really turned up the jets. With a FK rocket from Mata, a shot from Cahill, and some attempted play from Torres they very nearly stole the lead again, but the blue side just wasn't able to grab all three points.
Each team walking away with a point is definitely good news for supporters of Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Newcastle. The reason is really now kicking off with every game being a huge deal. I think the American viewers got themselves a show with the game being a major network broadcast.
Newcastle - Aston Villa (2-1)
Everyone watch out, Newcastle just might have the most dangerous duo up front in the premier league right now. With the newly acquired Demba Cisse up front with fellow countryman Demba Ba, who are back from Africa Cup of Nations, Newcastle means serious business now.
With an exciting match this morning Demba Ba was the first to get on the score-sheet slotting in his goal in the 30'.
Since the start of his loan period, Robbie Keane has been nothing short of spectacular for his side. All game he was involved and really gave Villa a fight chance to equalize right before the half giving his squad a nice boost of confidence.
Despite Keane's efforts, Newcastle came found themselves the lead when Jonas Gutierrez cross the ball over Ba to Cisse who place the ball down and sent an un-savable missile into the top left corner winning the game.
With this win and newly acquired front man Newcastle has really shown how good an an organization they are buying real quality players are bargain prices. They certainly are in the running for a Champions League spot making it that much more competitive for everyone else.
